Wholesale Market Operations
ERCOT Nodal 101ERCOT Nodal 101 is a high-level overview of the ERCOT nodal market. The course explores the major changes in ERCOT’s system operations and market operations that were made when the ERCOT nodal market started operation on December 1st, 2010. The course is designed to introduce the various components of the nodal market including Day-Ahead and Real-time Operations as well as Congestion Revenue Rights (CRRs) and financial settlements.
Load Serving Entity 201This course provides an overview of the ERCOT Nodal Market from the perspective of Load Serving Entities (LSEs), including Retail Electric Providers, Municipally Owned Utilities and Electric Cooperatives. LSE 201 focuses on the tools available to LSEs to manage their cost exposure in the ERCOT Nodal Market.
Congestion Revenue RightsThis course provides a comprehensive overview of Congestion Revenue Rights (CRRs), financial instruments that can be used to hedge against congestion costs in the ERCOT Nodal Market.
Economics of Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP)The Economics of LMP course describes the basic principle of Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs), a fundamental concept on which the ERCOT nodal market design is based. The course includes examples of LMP calculations in simple networks and describes the links between prices and offer-based economic dispatch. The course also describes where bilateral contracts fit into the nodal market and includes discussion of hedging instruments of congestion such as congestion revenue rights and contracts for differences.
Network Model ManagementThe Network Model Management course covers the operation of the ERCOT Network Model Management System (NMMS) and associated processes. The course includes instruction on the roles and responsibilities of ERCOT and the market participants (MPs) to maintain the ERCOT network models.
ERCOT 101 for Wind GenerationThis course provides an overview of the ERCOT Nodal Market from the perspective of Wind Generation Resources. Wind Generation 101 focuses on the special characteristics of Wind Generation Resources and the integration of these resources into ERCOT’s Market and System Operations.
Non Opt-in Entity (NOIE) QSE OperationsNon-Opt-In Entity (NOIE) QSE Operations is specifically designed to supplement information covered in the Basic Training Program as it pertains to non-opt-in entities. The course includes a review of the typical business functions of NOIEs who desire to use output schedules and/or dynamically scheduled resources (DSRs) and pre-assigned congestion revenue rights (PCRRs).
Market Settlements 301This course provides a comprehensive overview of financial settlements with QSEs and CRR Account Holders in the ERCOT Nodal Market. Settlements 301 focuses on the charges and payments associated with Congestion Revenue Rights, the Day-Ahead Market, Reliability Unit Commitment and Real-Time Operations.
Basic Training ProgramThis course provides a comprehensive overview of Market and System Operations in the Nodal Market design. Basic Training explores the detailed operations of Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs), Transmission Service Providers (TSPs) and ERCOT in the Day Ahead Market, the Reliability Unit Commitment process, the Adjustment Period and Real-Time Operations.
Generation 101 (Reliability Unit Commitment and Real-Time Operations)Generation 101 covers the processes executed by ERCOT that are required for reliable operation of the ERCOT grid and execution of the ERCOT real-time market. The course presents a detailed description of operating day interactions between ERCOT and market participants during Real-Time Operations and the Adjustment Period as well as Day-Ahead Operations activities such as the Reliability Unit Commitment Process.
Generation 201 (Day-Ahead Market)Generation 201 covers the processes executed by ERCOT during Day-Ahead Market. The course presents a detailed description of the interactions between ERCOT and market participants for each Day-Ahead Market in which ERCOT executes a market for energy, Ancillary Services and Day-Ahead Point-to-Point Obligations.
Transmission 101The Transmission 101 course covers the processes executed by ERCOT in the planning and operation of the ERCOT grid with emphasis on the interactions between ERCOT and Transmission Service Providers (TSPs).
CRR Market User InterfaceThe CRR Market User Interface training module introduces market participants to the web-based user interface through which CRR Account Holders may submit bids and offers for CRR auctions, manage credit, view market activities and results.
Market Information System (MIS)The Market Information System (MIS) training module introduces the web-based user interface established as the single-source for all ERCOT-published Market information related to system operations, market operations, and financial settlement and as the gateway through which Market Participants access the applications used in their interactions with ERCOT during the operation of the nodal market.
Outage Scheduler Market User InterfaceThe Outage Scheduler User Interface training module introduces Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs) and Transmission Service Providers (TSPs) to the primary tool for managing transmission and Resource outages.
Market Manager User Interface TrainingThe Market Manager User Interface training module introduces the Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs) to the web-based user interface user interface they will use in their daily interactions with the ERCOT Market Management System (MMS). The Market Manager allows QSEs to submit and update Bids, Offers, Trades, Current Operating Plans (COPS) and other information for use in the daily operations of the nodal market.
2011 ERCOT Black Start TrainingThis course is a specialized training in the proper restoration of the ERCOT system in the event of a system wide Black Out. Black Start is designed for TOPs and Generation Operators/QSEs.
2012 ERCOT Black Start TrainingThis course is a specialized training in the proper restoration of the ERCOT system in the event of a system wide Black Out. Black Start is designed for TOPs and Generation Operators/QSEs.
2012 ERCOT Operations Training SeminarThe 2012 ERCOT Operations Training Seminar is a 19 hour training course focused on providing training and a forum for system-wide problems to effectively address and maintain consistency in operator training across all of ERCOT’s system operating entities.
Upon completion of the Seminar the participant’s will be able to understand the objectives and pass a written exam.
EPS Meter Inspector TrainingThis course covers the market''s responsibilities of EPS meter inspectors including required documentation, EPS metering facilities, protocol requirements, as well as settlement and technical requirements.
NMMS/OS WorkshopThe NMMS/OS Workshop will walk attendees through various scenarios to explain the timelines required in coordinating the submission of Network Model updates and outage schedules with scheduled Network Model updates.
