
Mark Dreyfus
Municipally Owned Utilities Segment
Mark Dreyfus serves as the director of regulatory and government affairs at Austin Energy, where he is responsible for representing Austin Energy’s federal and State legislative interests; coordinating Austin Energy’s local government relationships; representing Austin Energy before the Public Utility Commission (PUC) and before ERCOT; developing market policy positions for Austin Energy; coordinating Austin Energy’s participation in ERCOT committees; and advising Austin Energy’s executive team on market and regulatory policy.
Mr. Dreyfus served as chair of ERCOT’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), the stakeholders’ committee to the ERCOT Board of Directors during 2007 and 2008, and as the TAC vice chair during 2005 and 2006. Mr. Dreyfus also served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association from 2005 to 2009.
Prior to joining Austin Energy, Mr. Dreyfus worked at the PUC as chief economist in the Office of Policy Development and as advisor to Commissioner Pat Curran. During the 1999 legislative session, which developed Senate Bill 7, Mr. Dreyfus served as advisor to Commissioner Judy Walsh. Prior to joining the PUC, Mr. Dreyfus worked as an economic consultant at National Economics Research Associates. Previously, Mr. Dreyfus worked at the Environmental Protection Agency as supervisory economist in the Office of Toxic Substances, where he led a team responsible for conducting regulatory impact and benefit-cost analyses on regulations affecting the chemical industry.
Mr. Dreyfus is a graduate of the University of Texas in the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program. He holds a masters of public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a doctorate in economics from Duke University.
